What to do with myself.

Inspiration, first documentary production class at southbank week one semester two, My teacher Pharra Marz gave us a bit of insight as to how he came to be a director producer, he told us how he started out wanting to be d.o.p, and how he found directing and producing his field of practice. I’m ok with this if it happens to me, at them moment I’m interested in making music videos and learning website design. I might change my mind and decide to go down a different path, i.e. designing tv advertisements, as long as the task is creative, I’m keen to get in there and add my 2 cents and make it happen!

I’m passionate about photography; beautiful skies, city lights, twilight (dusk/dawn), interesting angles, group shots, high fashion…

Music inspires me to create, also sets the mood. Music has a huge influence on me. I will get a great idea from listening to a song I like.

People give me inspiration and ideas willingly and unknowingly.

Observing and learning is my practice at the moment.

Overall look and feel of my online portfolio:

I like colour:

Blue orange, pink, yellow, purple, green

I like to K.I.S.S (Keep It Simple Silly)

I like structure

The template will consist of coloured elements on white background/ maybe with the addition of images in the background, but only as watercolour so that the image is faded therefore the colours won’t clash.

Came across this portfolio template, and it's really opened up my eyes as to what is possible in flash. By looking at the animation at face value, I can see that the movement is simple timing and motion tween effects that I could probably try doing myself with a bit of help from youtube tutorials and just simply playing around. I'm interested in this stuff, It's creative and its useful. There is an increasing demand where business's require the skills of a web designer. I have been thinking of getting a part time job in website design. This way I can incorporate video marketing as well as becoming better at using flash and dreamweaver software.

My second major of my university course is to be taken at the GFS, Southbank. This semester I plan to take Documentary Production. Something a little different, new people, new teaching team, different environment. I'm imagining it will be more of a professional environment. I say this because I've heard this from students who have done a course at the GFS after completing most of their degree at another campus. I hope it is what people say it is, because It's what I need from My degree, especially for the final year. If it's going to help me prepare for a future career in film, this is what I want, so I look forward to what the GFS can offer me, and what I can offer the GFS.

Documentary ideas have been infiltrating my mind the last few days. I have this one idea, inspired from someone, who told me not to worry about what I'm going to do for Documentary Production. Basically, I've been thinking about shoes. I was at the traffic lights waiting for about 3 minutes and I was just looking at peoples shoes... Most wore sneakers, there were a few thongs and 1 pair of high heels.. I've just been thinking over the last two days about how i might do a documentary on shoes. I could comment on the shoes worn in different cities. I.e gold coast compared to brisbane. I really don't know much about this idea yet, I'm still developing it, but for now, It's just a surface thing, and as I keep thinking about it, the more in depth I go, It all seems to hard and I'm loosing interest in the idea. How is it interesting, Why would anyone want to watch a doco on shoes.. I still need to figure all this out. Maybe I'll entertain a few other ideas so there is a bit of variety and I don't get bored with just the one idea.
